Adderall XR (amphetamine and dextroamphetamine salts) is a central nervous system stimulant used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.
The immediate-release version of Adderall lasts about four to six hours per dose, and Adderall XR, extended-release, is taken once daily.
However, Adderall can remain in a person’s system after the last use, and can be detected in:
- Urine: for 72 to 96 hours
- Blood: for up to 46 hours
- Saliva: for 20 to 50 hours
- Hair: for up to 3 months
The amount of time the drug can be detected in a person’s system depends on a number of factors, such as:
- Urine pH
- A person’s weight
- Frequency of use
- Dosage
- Last use
