What Are Cialis and Viagra?
Cialis vs. Viagra: One is not better than the other in general, but individual patients may respond better to one or the other.
Both Cialis (tadalafil) and Viagra (sildenafil) are phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors used to treat impotence (erectile dysfunction, or ED). Cialis is also used to treat enlarged prostate. What Are Side Effects of Cialis and Viagra?

Is Cialis Better Than Viagra?
Both drugs treat erectile dysfunction, but there are some differences. It’s not that one is better than the other but rather, which one is the right drug for the patient based on their history and overall physical health.
- Cialis can remain in the system for up to 36 hours so it allows for the ability to get an erection over a longer period than Viagra, which only lasts for 4 to 6 hours
- Cialis may be taken in a low dose every day so the drug can remain in the body, while Viagra is only intended to be taken as needed
- Cialis is taken 30 minutes before sexual intercourse, while Viagra can be taken 30 to 60 minutes prior to sex
- Cialis may cause limb pain, while Viagra is not expected to have this side effect
- Cialis is also approved to treat enlarged prostate
