Serious side effects of Benicar HCT (olmesartan medoxomil-hydrochlorothiazide), a medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest pain, spinning sensation (vertigo), cough, high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), kidney failure, and muscle tissue breakdown (rhabdomyolysis).
