Fluticasone nasal spray (Flonase) is a corticosteroid used to manage allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, congestion, and itchy and watery eyes.
Fluticasone nasal spray (brand name: Flonase) is a corticosteroid used for managing nasal symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic and non-allergic rhinitis in adults and children of 4 years of age and older.
- The exact mechanism of action of fluticasone nasal spray is not known, but it stimulates glucocorticoid receptors in humans which helps reduce inflammation.
- When used in the form of a nasal spray, fluticasone helps block multiple cells and mediators that are responsible for the inflammatory symptoms of allergic rhinitis (sneezing, runny nose, congestion, itchy and watery eyes, etc.), resulting in less inflammation in the nose and a reduction in symptoms.
